Psychotria Viridis Plants

Psychotria viridis (Chacruna) is an evergreen shrub or small tree that produces small red fruit containing small brown seeds and long, narrow leaves with pointed tips. It is also a relative of the coffee plant.

Psychotria viridis is native to the Amazonian lowlands , but it is also cultivated throughout the tropical regions of both hemispheres.

Chacruna is the most common companion to Banisteriopsis Caapi to produce Ayahuasca ( Brought to the publics attention on Bruce Parry's excellent BBC program AMAZON ). Ayahuasca is a sacred medicine used for millennia in rituals in many cultures of the Amazon Basin.

Psychotria viridis plants require full sun to partial shade. A very rich and fertile free draining soil is best. Humidity of 50% or more is ideal and they should be re-potted frequently.
