Succulents are a fascinating group of plants that live in a very wide range of habitats throughout the world Their natural habitat ranges from tropical rain forests to dry savannah, from hot arid deserts to some of the wettest place on earth.
Succulent plants, also known as succulents or fat plants, are water-retaining plants adapted to arid climate or soil conditions. Succulent plants store water in their leaves, stems and/or roots. The storage of water often gives succulent plants a more swollen or fleshy appearance than other plants, also known as succulence.
Succulents are represented in about 30 families of plants. All succulents have a thick layer of flesh or cuticle covering the upper-most layer of the plant tissue to minimize water loss. They have adapted to store as much water as possible in their roots, stems or leaves.
